Annual Meeting Report 2019-2020

This is the Annual Report for the 2019-2020 season of Orchestral Recital Series of Tacoma. In lieu of an in-person meeting, this report is distributed virtually. This report is also accessible here in Google Slides.

2019-2020 Highlights

  • Celebrated our fourth anniversary as an independent non-profit performing arts organization.
  • Developed a public position about systemic racism and specific commitments to expand ORS repertoire and practices to include Black composers, women and people of color.
  • 2019 $10K grant from Tacoma Creates enabled ORS to upgrade our website, develop data management systems, hire an intern.
  • Partnered with the University of Puget Sound to present 2019 fall Piano Trios Festival.  Four concert programs at Schneebeck Hall featuring 60 piano and violin student soloists.  Special performance by The Puget Sound Trio and a UPS-led master class.
  • Presented February 2020 4-Piano Benefit Concert at Lagerquist Hall, Pacific Lutheran University.
  • Awarded 2020-21 Tacoma Creates grant enabling ORS to 
    • professionalize our marketing and communications strategy
    • increase outreach to underrepresented Tacoma communities
    • hire operations staff
  • Re-invented the 2020 spring Orchestral Recital series concerts due to COVID-19.  August concerts will feature 25 student soloists with piano accompaniment.  Performances held at First Lutheran Church in Tacoma will be videotaped and posted for the public on
  • Established Student Benefactors Program enabling student soloists to cultivate benefactors to defray student fee expenses.
  • Successfully raised $5K through donor gifts.
  • Expanded Board membership, welcoming three new members.
