ORS PIANO TRIO FESTIVAL

Fall is in the air... join us for student-selected compositions in a Piano Trio setting.

In partnership with The University of Puget Sound School of Music, ORS of Tacoma is honored to announce concerts ‚Äčfeaturing The Puget Sound Trio.

FEATURING MUSICIANS OF ALL AGES

The Piano Trio Recitals are an opportunity for students of all ages and abilities to experience performing with professional Trio musicians. This event features pieces selected by the students and their instructors.

CALVIN HETTINGER

~ CELLIST ~

Calvin grew up in Michigan where he graduated from Western Michigan University with a Bachelors degree in Music Education. Upon graduation he started a Suzuki Cello School program in Benton Harbor, MI.. Later he went back for graduate work in cello performance at Western Michigan University. While attending, he became a member of the Grand Rapids Symphony Orchestra. Several years later, he followed his wife to Chicago and focused primarily on teaching. Calvin has played in numerous orchestras in Michigan and Illinois. Since moving to the Pacific Northwest he has played with the Tacoma and Vashon Opera and is currently a member of the Tacoma City Ballet and the Olympia Symphony Orchestra. He also has a private studio in Gig Harbor.

PUGET SOUND PIANO TRIO

The trio is composed of Puget Sound faculty members Maria Sampen (violin), Alistair MacRae (cello), and Tanya Stambuk (piano). These three musicians come from distinguished musical backgrounds, bringing a rich variety of professional experiences to their work as an ensemble. They have performed in such venues as Benaroya Hall (Seattle), Lincoln Center (New York), Carnegie Hall (New York), Orchestra Hall (Chicago), and at numerous colleges and universities.

MAGGIE DUGGAN

~ VIOLINIST ~

Maggie Duggan is a native of Tacoma, Washington. She has been involved in the ORS for many years, serving as concertmaster and personnel manager for the orchestral concert series in May. A graduate of the San Francisco Conservatory, she works as both a teacher and a performer in the Puget Sound area. She is in her third year as Artist in Residence at the Tacoma School of the Arts where she teaches string orchestra and chamber music classes. Currently she is pursuing her Master of Arts in Teaching at the University of Puget Sound.
